  • The HyperEdge is sort of a Smart Jack. The part number you listed is just a shelf. It is the box that will hold the smart jack cards. You will have one card for each T1. For example, 2 cards for a 2xT1 at 3.0 Mbps, 3 cards for a 3xT1 at 4.5 Mbps, etc.

  • I work in telecom, and anyone in telecom will understand the phrase "smart jack". If you google smart jack, you will have to search hard to find it refered to as a jack rather than as the network interface box. If I tell you that Jack is gay, are you going to tell me that technically it means he is happy and lighthearted? The phrase smart jack is commonly used to refer to the network interface, and it is less likey to cause confusion than the technically "correct" term.

  • We have bonded T1 service. What is a HyperEdge DTWA-528-04? Is it a Smart Jack? I live in suburb of Washington, DC. Verizon installed it.

  • Thanks for uploading the video bondfish. Any1 would understand it. I need more help. How do I contact you?

  • Great Asian women for you lushfmlk.info

  • I agree with ghbondfish. Most people nowadays refer to the network interface itself as "the smartjack". Technically I guess it is not correct but I do not think it is misleading at all.

  • Nicely done. Thank you.

  • I work in telecom also- onetwoowt1 is right. if you are familiar with the rj31x alarm jack configs.... the shorting bar is key- altough we call it the "alarm jack" the correct part number and terminology will make or break the connection.

  • I think this may be a bit misleading. What is being shown in the vid is a network interface box.

A smart jack was actually an 8 contact jack wired according to RJ48X. This is actually wired the same as RJ48C, but has a feature that when cable is unplugged, it automatically goes into loopback mode with pin 1 shorted to pin 4 and pin 2 shorted to pin 5.

It is possible that this net interface box comes with 4 RJ48X smart jacks in it.
