  • surely late 70s or early 80s? The physical sensation of her voice heard live was quite extraordinary and unforgettable

  • Yes, late 70's... 1979

  • Incredibly huge and flexible voice! She was unique, no doubt, and for so long! As for her Italian, well I speak the language fluently and I understand every word she sings...

  • The most beautiful voice to have ever existed. I am always really impressed by her coleratura as well, its done só perfectly it sounds almost unhuman, amazing!

  • @MrStpendouslvforjo No, I'm realistic and educated, it's not my fault that theres a whole bunch of people on youtube with wikipedia music educations.

  • @skitzo429 you are a negative jerk

  • @cutevtman You are soooo right well SAID

  • @cutevtman Here here!

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

  • I get so tired of reading comments from people who complain about how someone sounds or that they transposed something down. Unless you have been in their shows and actually performed at that level, please don"t comment! I am a professional performer and I can tell you that to go out there night after night and deliver the goods is NO easy task and Sutherland did it with grace, poise and ease like no other!!!

  • @steinwaygrande1 perhaps youre confused about what the word 'prime' means, try consulting a thesaurus. she was NOT in the prime of her vocal career at 63 when she retired, when she retired she was transposing EVERYTHING down into lower keys, sometimes up to a third down. Her 'vocal prime' was in her late 30s and early 40s. she absolutely DID NOT have high Es when she retired, she almost never performed E natural live as it is, and most recordings of it are from her 30s and early 40s

  • @skitzo429 Bloody utter rubbish. She retired in her prime when she found hitting the high Es!! not C but Es!! was becoming more difficult, so intead of bringing every piece down a semi tone she decided to retire gracefully in the prime of her life and sadly never ever perfomed again

  • @skitzo429 What utter nonsense. She was still in her prime when she decided to gracefully retire in 1990 ! Some people know when it s time to go, others hang on until they are litterly booed off the stage. This never happened to our Dame Joan

  • @DiegoMartinazzoli Gubrerova and her bird like little voice can't be compared to Joan's glorious huge with perfect coloratura voice.
