Utica, NY JAMES STREET Cornhill

Driving down James Street to get to the Acropolis Greek Restaurant in Utica, NY. Spiro is the chef at Acropolis. Now I know that everyone in the area thinks Symeon's Greek Restaurant in New Harford when they hear the word Greek, but few know about the Acropolis Greek Restaurant located @ 621 James Street Utica. James Street has a bad name because of shootings in the past, so some know about the Acropolis Greek Restaurant but do not wish to travel on James street to get to the place. You can come in from the other side of James Street where Mohawk Valley Commuity College is. Spiro was a chef on cruise ships back in the 60's and 70's. He is a very good Greek chef. He told me that back in the day only rich people could afford and or did go on cruise ship cruise's so the tips were very generous. He cook make alot of money in one night. But things changed when more middle class people began to enjoy cruise's. Cruise ships like Carnaval toned things down and did not serve food with white gloves. The old Cruise ship's would really proved White gloved service. He said it was a honor to work in the food service, it made you feel good about what you were doing. He came to Utica and he say's some of the people here can be mean. Treating him as if he were a servant, Utica Sucks yes, but If you are in town and you want some really good Greek you stop by the Acropolis Greek Restaurant and say hi to Spiro.
