@velazquez2009 Sorry velazquez2009, but you are comparing apples and oranges. Dame Janet Baker is a famous contralto, even though she sang Dido and some of the other high mezzo roles. Callas of course was a dramatic soprano, who could also sing the mezzo rep.
Baker is great yes! But compared to Callas, even if their repertory is quite different ofcourse, Baker is always more
"cold"/English/contained. This is a very wonderful recording! Callas has more expressivity, but sometimes at risk or cost of the technique... both wonderful and genuine artists.

sound power and expressivity have never coexisted in such a mirable way as in Mrs. Baker -not even in Callas, in my opinion
