After 7 years of practicing kendo while in a wheelchair I decided to try wheelchair fencing. This clip is from the gold medal epee bout at the 2009 Summer Nationals held in Grapevine, TX on 4th of July weekend. The clip ends with the scored tied 13-13. I lost the bout with a score of 15-14 and earned the silver medal.

  • Ahhh! you stop THERE! Right has excellent wrist attack, great, but I assume a form of neuropathy. It was a lot tenser than I anticipated, great match. I am hoping that right decided to let left come to him and stop the entanglements which was letting left come under. It really brought it back. I should have tried to go to some epee tournaments after all. I think the nearest female wheelchair epeeist is 1100 miles away. Is there women's? Great video, thanks.
