  • Wow, nice man... this your official channel, will you be making new videos? I'm currently learning how to program in Java, and wanted to checkout slick's 2d engine. what do you think about it, viable for making an mmorpg with? limitations you don't like, please write me back

  • @phlashblazer Yup I will be uploading more videos as I go here. I've seen slick2d used for various mmorpg projects with so I know it's possible, but I'm honestly not sure how easy it would be. The only thing I don't really know about for an mmorpg would be the network stuff, but like I said many people have done it in the past. A better place to ask would be the slick2d forums honestly, since I have no prior networking experience. But for my needs so far slick2d has been great

  • @ToAOfficial Thanks for replying so quickly ToA! How many years of java experience do you have? was slick2d difficult for you to learn? Thanks for putting up your gameplay... I noticed that the characters can actually stop within a tile... they're not exactly forced *from* tile to tile... am I looking at this right? It's really unique and zelda like.. really looking forward to seeing more vids...

    Phlash~

  • @phlashblazer I have about 3 years of Java experience, taken 4 classes on it then code in it in my free time for a hobby. Slick2D was not difficult to learn at all, once you get it set up, and if you have a good knowledge of Java it's as simple as can be. The player can stop anywhere, if you try to change the direction and not on a grid line it'll keep going the direction you're facing till it gets on a grid line, then switches direction. Same way Zelda 1 did it.
