They must have unearthed some chimera that was in some sort of hibernative state, and then it just all went wrong.. It always turns to go wrong, you noticed that? Everytime some guy say "We can study them and learn more and put our own techonology several years forward!" then bam! It goes wrong. It did in Resident Evil, Transformers (the movie), Resistance, Doom. Heck there are some things in this world you just shouldn't touch.
