In this final clip of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games opening ceremony, it comes in three stages.
One, the performers from way back at the beginning of the ceremony came back out for a last performance.
Two, the song "Faster, Higher, Stronger" was sung by classical music opera singer: Jessye Norman of nearby Augusta, Georgia. The title of this song comes from the Olympic motto, created by the late Baron Pierre de Coubertin called "Citius, Altius, Fortius."
Finally, fireworks outside the stadium signal the final act of the opening ceremony, with the words "Let A Voice Heard Round The World Proclaim, 'The Games Have Now Begun" on the Jumbotron screen.

Atlanta was definitely NOT the best opening ceremony. it was pretty good tho. everything was great, but I thought the whole cheerleading scheme was a bit unsophisticated for such an event. the olympic committee did say they did not like the whole Coca Cola theme of the games and that is why it is taking so long for the summer olympics to come come back 2 the US because of the mass commercialization and advertising
Taking so long to go back to the USA? 1996 was only 13 years ago and the Olympics only happen every 4 years. And take into account the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and Los Angeles 1984, I don't think it is a long time. Considering that France hasn't hosted the Summer Olympics since 1924, Italy since 1960, Germany since 1972, South America and Africa have never hosted, and with Chicago plotting a 2016 bid, I don't think that is a very long time at all.
In my opinion, each Olympics outdoes the previous one simply cuz they see what they can approve upon. Sydney made Atlanta look like crap. Athens was classy in its own way. Beijing blew the world apart! I think London will at least prove to be fun, hip and classy, cuz it's a melting pot city.

At least the people in Atlanta knew how to set the vault in gymnastics.
