completely disassemble and reassemble a Colt 1908 Vest pocket pistol (25 ACP). This one was made in 1921.--- SPECS

height=77.19mm (3.03in)
length= 113.95mm (4.48in)
width= 17.85mm (.7in)
width of grips= 25mm (.98in)
barrel length= 53.77mm (2.11in)

Remove Magazine, Check chamber to ensure safe. Hold back pressure on slide until barrel rotates to unlock the slide. Remove slide. Remove recoil guide/ spring. Rotate barrel back to original position to remove from slide. On the frame, maintain control on striker assembly ( at back of frame) to remove. unscrew grips then remove. rotate safety lever up to safe, then past safe to 12 o'clock holding thumb ober lever to catch detent and spring from flying away. remove both. hold pressure on grip safety and punch pin out at base of the handle, removing gripe safety, flat spring ( I called this a J spring once in the vid, i know, i was thinking of it's J shape orientation) and mag catch/ release. Clean and then reassemble in reverse order.

MAGAZINE- Compress spring with a AP brush or punch rod. insert a small tool (such as a small Allen wrench) into a forward facing hole in the side of the magazine to hold the compression of the spring ( use a forward hole and not the bottom hold toward the back of the mag so you dont pinch the follower with the tool). either shake the hell out of the mag while holding upside down, or break the follower free of the spring using another small tool. holding a brush or rag over the top of the mag, remove the tool to release the spring safely. spring orientation is such that the loop in the end of the spring is the top, and is suppose to be facing out to the front of the mag.

  • FYI to every one, im sorry if i failed to reply to a question youve left in your comments. i rarely look at my own channel. i use youtube as a source of information and entertainment as it relates to my hobbies. i made this video because there was no other video out. im glad i could help. if you do have a question that you need answered i suggest leaving a message instead. thank you

  • just out of curiosity....why are you afraid to dry fire a center fire pistol? If it was rimfire of course I would understand. But center fire? why are you afraid?

  • @TheVert1276 i dont dry fire this pistol because it is striker fired and if you look at the way it goes together that striker hits into the body of the slide with all of its power with out the cushion of a primer. due to its age i think its prudent. i dont believe the firing pin tip will break as much as i think the firing pin body would
