  • No, I factored by unfoiling (or, trial and error). To see videos on that go to my channel and search on "factor trinomial".

  • um,..I would just like to know why you did not multiply the bottom w/ the LCD and so as the top in the first step that you showed...

  • That would be a different method than I used in this video. Here I turned the top into a single fraction (with its own LCD), turned the bottom into a single fraction (with its own LCD), then multiplied the top fraction by the reciprocal of the bottom fraction.

    The other method you refer to works too - you could multiply top and bottom by LCD of all fractions and go from there.

  • I'm glad you start out the video by mentioning that there are 2 different ways to solve the problem...because I saw an earlier video, and I thought WHOA! What is going on here....I would have done it a different way...however, it would be even better to see both ways, so that we could compare methods? just a thought, it would also help me to decide which method I like better. (again, just thoughts because I notice I work out some problems different than the teacher too).

  • why didn't you factor the trinomial above the x^2 and x^3 instead you go directly in cross multiplying. or is it just not factorable?
