Skyrim : massive framerate fps drop when looking at town

Skyrim gives me massive FPS drop when looking in the direction of a town. Here I am in the edge of Whiterun. When I look outside towards the moutain, I have 60FPS, when I look towards the center of the town, I get 15-20 fps. It does the same thing in the other towns. In the wild and inside dungeons I maintain a steady 60 fps with all settings at ultra. Whenever I look in the direction of a town, even if I'm really far away, I'll get this massive framerate drop (60 to 20 fps).

My specs :

- AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
- GTX 570 factory overclocked
- 8Gb RAM
- Did a clean Windows 7 64bit install just before installing the game, all my drivers are up to date.

Since patch 1.2 I seem to get smoother framerates in town, but it is still dropping nevertheless. I found that forcing ambient occlusion off in Nvidia control panel helped a lot with stuttering problems since patch 1.2.

... U really think thats bad my best fps ever in skyrim is 8 i use lovest graphix, a mod that gives more fps and game booster so do u fucking understand that if u still have like 15 fps u dont fucking cry about it

LISTEN TO ME NOW GUYS!!I swear that my framerate dorps by about 15 or 20 frames while looking in candels!!omfg xD And it also drops when i go into caves and mines and all those indoor locations pls guys send me link to some kind of patch that will fix this problem.Thanks.And another thing,is patch 1.4 out jet???

WOO HOO. This is awesome! The 1.4 patch completely fixed all my framerate issues! Running at 50 fps on high, now I'm gonna try ultra and see what happens! :)

Im still getting 25fps in whiterun at the top of those stairs to dragons reach and at the waterfall in Markarth.

Everywhere else i get pretty much constant 50fps.

Finally they fixed this this with 1.4 now I don't have to look at my feet anymore while in a city
