The fine son of Raise A Native holds off arch rival Art and Letters.

  • Hard to believe he beat Arts And Letters. The Blood Horse rated Majestic Warrior number forty-six and Arts And Letters sixty-eight. Great to see this in color.

  • They were very close in ability, but I'm guessing Blood Horse likely felt that had Majestic Prince not had health problems he would have won the Triple Crown, would have been a better horse head-to-head, and over a complete career.

    Glad you enjoyed this video.

  • My late uncle Bobby Stewart rode "Ocean Roar" in this Derby..I can still remember watching the race on our little black and white tv..I was so proud! RIP Bobby!

  • Thanks, this is my all time favorite Derby

horse that I got to meet even.

  • Wow! Just an 8-horse field for the Derby?!?! That's a rarity these days, huh; The Prince and A&L showed why they were the top two sophs that year by far! Good effort by the late-closing Dike. Thanks again, cf1970!
