Conversations host Harry Kreisler welcomes Steven A. Cook of the Council on Foreign Relations for a discussion of the impact of the military on democratization in Turkey, Algeria, and Egypt. He analyzes the structure of power in these countries, the role of Islamic parties in furthering democratization, and raises important questions about U.S. policy in the region through comparison with the policies of the European Union.

  • @trrinita Excuse me but the two was colony of Ottoman. And there was a lot riots in the both during to Ottoman rules. The Egyptian mutineers had made Ottoman loser in Balkan peninsula.

Also Turkey had abstentioned against the Algerian indipendence meeting in UN that what postponed Algerian indipendence from France about ten years.

The conclusion that we can't say the ''trio was pillars''

Now that multiniational corporations own large share of infrastructures in your countries there are no need for dictators anymore because no matter who govern you will work to buy the products and services of occidental corporation. If you are Algerian then you should know that Algerians are 75% Amazigh, more known as Berbers and that our first language is the Algerian Patois (a combination of 4 languages: French, Amazigh, Arabic and Spanish) then it's French, Amazigh (Kabyle, Shaoui, Touareg) and standard Arabic which is only spoken at schools, Universities and by the Media at large. Most Algerians understand Arabic but very few can actually speak it fuently for lack of practice.

  • i am an algeria ispeaks berber i am amazigh
