  • Lovely jaunty tune, nice singing and excellent lunar photos.

  • D., I bet you must know VERY WELL what means each full moon night. I carefully roll down all windowscreens and for hours try to read or to fall asleep not thinking about the silvery shining sky over my head.

  • marvelous photos; i especially like the moon on a string....the sound is so good. thank you.

  • Those Columbias of 1927/28 are really SO GOOD! If only they have not been too much wornout, the sound comes out almost crystal clear

  • Great moon pix, but forme right now it's get out and get under the rain.

  • Barbcard, Soon you will be enjoying Italian full moon over Lago Maggiore.. so, don't complain! :-(

  • Eiger, Mönch and the Jungfrau at 2:48. Must be near Thun or Interlaken in Switzerland.

  • I really dig what you did with this!

  • Try some pitch correction; compare it against a cheap, electronic keyboard next time.

I agree with you, at that time 'Columbia' were using the 'Western-Electric' recording equipment and their Records had a very high purity shellac final coating which, when new, was almost silent.

Unfortunately the heavy & clumsey tone arms of the period soon 'tore-up' the surface, especially at the beginning of the record where the new 'Needle' was still very sharp. All that changed in 1931 when Columbia merged with HMV, and their records became similar in quality to the HMV product.

  • The vocal, by the way, is by none other than Bing Crosby . He was 25, still part of the Rhythm Boys, under contract to Paul Whiteman and quickly becoming a star.

  • Exquisite.

    Bravo!

  • Nice job, beautiful sound. Thanks for posting this!

  • You're quite welcome, '240252'. Incidentally, this was originally issued on {American} Columbia 1402-D...

  • Ain't complainin.' But I'll be in the extreme South of Italy, far from Lago Maggiore. Enjoy la luna over Mex! :))
