  • Yeah, I'd build that Ruskie shuttle! As a Floridian, I can tell you that there is nothing like seeing a shuttle night lauch as the old girl rises up on a "pillar of smoke and fire"! Sadly, now no more and that tin can replacement is going nowhere. Yes, grrrr indeed!

  • @BluTrilobite I agree. The US space program is in the toilet now.

  • @ChrisLynn68 The 1/100 Shuttle is made by Tamiya. It will probably be the first Tamiya kit I build.

I have taken a look at the Anigrand website before. I didn't pay that much attention to the Braun kit at that time. I was looking for something else. I just took a second look, and that is one nice kit!!! I might get it in the future, but right now I have quite a bit in my que, so it will be a while before I have time to build on up.

  • @badgrendels

Who makes the 1/100 shuttle? I'll look forward to seeing your video!

What are your thoughts on the Anigrand 1:144 Buran and Energia kits? Did you look at the Anigrand website?Do do think you may purchase and build them?

By the way way, I paint for a living but not models. I'm utterly ashamed of myself ! !

  • @ChrisLynn68 I just won a 1/100 shuttle in a contest and I don't know when I will get to her. But I am going to do a review video sometime in the next few weeks.

Painting is something that takes practice. The happy thought is that you can strip paint if you don't like it and start over....

  • @badgrendels I have to admit that I started my US and USSR Shuttles about 3 years ago and still haven't finished! They're both mostly done, assembled and painted but I still haven't added the engine bells or applied the decals. And to be honest I'm not happy my my own painting. Seeing your video has motivated me to get the job done!

I really don't know when I'll get round to doing the 1:144 Shuttles.

  • @ChrisLynn68 When I do get to this, I might have to build up a 1/288 space shuttle to go beside her. Great suggestion. Thank you again for the information!!

  • You're very welcome 'badgrendals'!

I have a book on the Buran Energia program and it's packed with information.

The strap on boosters were based on the 1st stage of the Zenit rocket.

I also built a 1:288 US Space Shuttle to go alongside Buran which was impossible to find here in the UK and I had to find one in the US on eBay. I have a 1:144 Shuttle which I'll build with my 1:144 Buran.

  • @ChrisLynn68 Thank you for all of the information. Purchasing this kit has been a learning experience for sure!

I didn't know that the strap ons were liquid fueled!

  • I must add that the 4 boosters are not solid fuelled but are each a single engine with 4-chambered liquid fuel rocket engine. The central core booster is liquid fuelled with 4 engines, each single-chambered.
