1971 American Motors Javelin vintage test drive video.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------AMC Javelin, second generation design (1971 -1974). The Javelin was restyled for 1971 and like the Mustang of the period, became bigger in most every dimension.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Today the AMC Javein is fast gaining a following for being unique and and as a muscle car for those who dare to be different.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------AMC was purchased by Chrysler Corporation in 1987 in order to acquire the Jeep brand, which AMC had owned since 1970. With the purchase by Chrysler, AMC became the last independent and thsu ended a long history dating back to 1902.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMC will live on in the cars that remain and which are cherised by those who dare to break away from the pack.

  • poor amc. they gave us the cj5 and cj7, the wagoneer which started the whole suv thing. everyone hates the gremlin and pacer, they were just too ahead of their time. the amx was the only american competition for the vette in the late 60's. the javelin was a great car. then they gave us the rebel. the sc/rambler, and the rebel machine. now pontiac has went the way of amc, studebaker, hudson, la salle, desoto, oldsmobile, and a few others. what is happening???

  • 7.1 seconds to reach 60 mph. That is not bad.

  • Body roll helps, actually around turns. Especially with 430 ft pounds of tourqe and 330 hp with those tires. If it did not have body roll you would slide off the road a lot easier. I think the"body roll" I see is nice for a sporty car like this. Now a ford lincoln or an amc ambasador I would love to see them doing this it would be funny LOL! Now that would be too much body rolll for racing around turns like that.

  • @GriffVirgil Don't know what part of the country you're from but 60's Camaros are common where I live. Now old Firebird/Trans Am's, those are uncommon.

  • o and the cutluss sold a lot too

  • but the barracuda came before mustang and mustang sell alot so they are fairly common you rarely see old charger 440s or cudas cameros or javelins or darts and so on. maybe having a mustang is to common. a kid will se thousands of mustang but only hundreds of the others

  • the only muscle car is a mustang.....for history...for design....the mustang have 50 history years ....is the number one american classic car....sale 10.000.000 mustangs..

  • This would be my choice.

  • @OsbornTramain they are funded my Chrysler... they nit pick on any other brands such as ford and amc... I like how they use alliterations though...

  • this auto guy sometimes really misses the mark. With inacurate stuff...like near the end of the film, he says, "a teenager a few years ago wouldn't want to drive a rambler on a date...". Is he nuts?? or Dumb? Ramblers were always the best date cars as Nash too because of their industry only reclining seats that laid flat. !!!! but that's beside the point I guess he was trying to say the Javelin would be cool for teens, which it is......but man. ...dumb..

  • @gunny426plymouth

You shouldn't talk about someone's mother like that! My mom died 30+ years ago when I was a young boy.

She was a good woman, looked after my dad and six siblings. There was nothing personal meant with my comment about cars, therefore I didn't need to read what you had to say.

Shame on you, maybe you had a missed childhood, in that case, I will forgive you.

    Shame on you!

  • @tobagotb10 BLAH BLAH BLAH our tastes are different. By that I mean mine are better than yours... Us classic car guys love BIG power in BIG cars and don't be like ''ohh that thing handles like crap''! Bullshit it ran in trans am for a reason. We enjoy the power and sound of large bore V8's, sure they guzzle gas like your mom guzzles cum but they sound good and we have fun even if it cost a lot! The muscle car age is still with us and won't die again soon... We'll be around.......
