Before anything: I'm sorry if it's a little quiet.

This is me playing through all 12 stages of the Snail Maze game. It is accessible with a V1.3 SMS BIOS. Here's how:
1) Start up your system with no cart or card inserted (For Emulators (I use KEGA Fusion), apply the BIOS to your emulator and press the TAB-button).
2) When the message appears, press and hold 1 and 2 and press up.
3) The first round should scroll in now. Have fun!

Here a few notes to the levels and how I did...
Level 1: It's a stereotypical maze-like level without any special stuff. I did quite well...
Level 2: Did just as well as in Lv. 1... Nothing much to say.
Level 3: A maze with lots of "S-curves". Had a little slip-up, but nothing to write home about.
Level 4: As shown in the video, you should keep yourself low the most part. No slip-up's.
Level 5: This maze is REALLY easy... if you keep yourself at the bottom at all times, that is. Three light slip-up's.
Level 6: A little bit... unique in structure... Some players feel tempted to go into the little S-passage to the left. Also there'll be yet another temption you should resist in the right part of the maze. No slip-up.
Level 7: Another temption in this level: Many want to go straight right from the start. Dunno why I halted a little...
Level 8: Whoops! Right at the start I made a major slip-up... Multiple minor slip-up's to follow, too. Two temptions you should resist.
Level 9: Another level that forces you to keep your low... at least for the first half. Took the wrong way once.
Level 10: Slip-up's increase in quantity in this level, it seems...
Level 11: There are two parts that I somehow like to call "Houses". You must go through there. Made a little slip-up.
Level 12: Pretty much the easiest of the bunch, but also the least forgiving. If I may explain, there are two "Pyramids". Take the wrong passage in the first pyramid and you land in a dead end. The second is more forgiving - it only bumps you back to the entrance. If you remember "Middle, Left", you should be fine. And make sure you have at least 40 seconds to spare, because you'll need about 30. Minor slip-up's about pressing the D-pad a little too early.

I always have about 35 seconds left, as seen in the vid.
The fastest you can complete Level 1 is 15 seconds. No more and no less.
The total maximum time you can have is always 98 seconds.

Let this be a help for you, if you can appreciate it. If not... Then this is no help for you.

  • wow this shit brings back memories. i remember playin this when i was jus a kid! Much thanks to my parents. they bought the nice big rectangular sega system. I remember this, gangster town, space harrier and action fighter. the beginning of my gaming career :D

Than came the Genesis. With it, Road Rash, Sonic, and many many more awesome games.

I really do feel bad for kids nowadays who duno what a good game is. for some as fortunate as us we got to really see where it all started.

  • Never...

  • Thumbs up if you were humming along during each round! Lol.

  • @TheRealCatGoneCrazy nah he just read the manual is all lol ;)

  • @The1bodhisattva Well, I actually did remember the maze structures somewhat. It's not the way that I could tell you which way to go without the maze in a physical form, though. It's just, I see the maze and in an instant, my brain has the solution ready.

@planetX15 Some BIOSes with integrated games still had the snail maze if the Master System was still a Model 1. Just hold down Up+1+2 while the Sega screen appears to see for yourself.

  • @planetX15 alex kidd is intergrated.

  • the sega master system i had had alex kidd without the cartridge, was it still possible to play this game if i did the code, or was on or the other type situation?

  • That was a trip! Think I remember completing it but how did you do it? Surely you could not remember the mazes, you start going 'boggle eyed' after a while and you did it almost perfect, a couple of stumbles when you try and go round a corner quick and you end up going back. What a trip though. Thanks for uploading.

  • i could watch this listening to the same music for hours :o SO ADDICTING!!!

  • @mattarrr oic... cool. thanks man
