A walk from Netley, through Royal Victoria Park, along the beach and marshes to Hamble, across the ferry and up the river Hamble to Lower Swanwick and Burseldon.

Parks, Estuary, refineries, marinas, rivers and nineteenth century maritime villages, casual searches for the asylum and for the filming location of Howard's Way.

  • Hi Peter. Thanks for your comments. Did the Police trainees blow out the windows and doors? I wish I could have gone inside the compound to see the fine old building. Any photos? Duncan

  • 03:41 the contraption that looks like a heater is actually a crude visual instrument to determining (when you are out at sea) when you are directly above the oil pipeline running from Fawley (where all the chimneys are) and Hamble Oil Terminal. It points an arrow one way or another if you aren't above it and just a vertical grid if you are straight above it.

Surprised you got over the other side of the Hamble Terminal.

  • Hi, I know every step of that walk and I even completed a survey of the police training headquaters you showed. Funny they should want to restore it so soon after blowing out the windows and doors. I agree with you that the whole area, not just the cematory has some sad vibes. Thanks for posting. Peter
