Utah Valley had six players score in double figures and Geddes Robinson hauled in 15 boards as the Wolverines topped South Dakota, 94-79, on Thursday night in Great West Conference basketball at the UCCU Center.

UVU (16-10, 8-1) rode a hot start, with eight of the team's first nine field goals coming from beyond the 3-point line, to race out to a 28-10 lead less than eight minutes in.

In addition to Robinson's 15 boards, the junior also scored 13 points for his seventh double-double of the year, a new school record for double-doubles in a season. Ben Aird scored 18 points, on 8-for-11 shooting, and pulled down nine rebounds and Justin Baker came off the bench to hit 8-for-10 from the floor to finish with a season-high 17 points and eight boards. Utah Valley outrebounded the Coyotes (12-13, 4-4) 47-30.

"We got out of the blocks well, had good ball movement and I thought we did a nice job of balancing the game," said UVU coach Dick Hunsaker. "We also did a great job on the backboards and took care of the basketball. If we get everybody going and playing well we can be productive at a lot of positions."

Isiah Williams had 17 points, Holton Hunsaker added 16 and Jordan Swarbrick finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. The Wolverines dished out 25 assists in the game and hit 49.2 percent from the field while USD shot 44.6 percent for the game.

Williams and Hunsaker each hit three treys and Swarbrick hit the other two as UVU took the early 28-10 lead, matching the largest lead the Wolverines would have in the game.
Hunsaker had 14 at the break and Williams 12 as UVU hit 10-of-21 from the 3-point line in the first half and assisted on 15 of 18 made baskets. Utah Valley had a 51-38 lead at halftime.

Baker scored 10 of UVU's 13 points during a second half stretch in which the teams went back-and-forth trading buckets. South Dakota stayed within striking distance thanks to some long range shooting of its own. Louie Krogman hit a pair of 3-pointers, helping the Coyotes get within 11, 72-61, with 10:32 left.

South Dakota was able to get within single digits on three occasions in the second half, the latest coming with 4:10 to go, but the Wolverines would score the next five points to make it 90-76 with under two minutes left to put the game out of reach.

Both teams took care of the basketball, with USD turning it over just six times and Utah Valley committing a season-low seven turnovers as the two teams split the season series with each winning at home. Trevor Gruis led South Dakota with 18 while Jake Thomas finished with 17.
