We always take our dog to the river walk. One of the few nice things in Danville.

The first building has been bought and is bringing jobs to Danville, and the reason the old building are not used is because it cost so much to renovate them, those buildings have no utilities at all thats why new buildings are built instead of renovating the old ones.

@johnnyphotos--I agree with you there. Work-wise, there's really nothing in Danville which is a shame. I almost got work there once, but I had to turn it down b/c the pay rates were way too low :-(

Leevo1987, I grew up in Danville but left in 89. I wish you the best and I hope you can contribute to the city. They really need one thing, JOBS!!! If you can find another industry to come in you will have regrowth and prosperity. Good luck and God be with you.

I grew up in Danville all my life and have spent the past few years in Richmond attending VCU and working under our now new Governor Bob McDonnell. I'm planning on coming back to Danville next year and try and do all I can to help turn the area around. I know that it can be done.

I live in Danville and this was a very nice video. I wish they would have left the Schoolfield Recreation Center up, it was a nice place.

Dan River Mills was bought out by an Indian firm and closed for good two years ago. Some of the buildings are still used for storage, but otherwise and other than the brand name, it is gone for good.
Thanks all who watched and replied,

Thanks for sharing your photos...well done. We've just moved to Danville, and it truly is sad how these old downtowns just become "lost". Your nature photos are beautiful.

Thanks Dawn, quite enjoyed your video also and really loved the ambiance of the music. I had to get a CD. :>)
I lived in Ringgold with my wife and two boys (15 and 11). I grew up in Caswell County just south of Danville, but Ringgold is where my father was born and raised, so I am back to my roots I guess you would say.
