Heysel Stadium Disaster - May 1985 - Liverpool v Juventus

Before the 1985 European Cup Final between Liverpool and Juventus, fighting broke out amongst supporters and the police.

39 people died that day.

Incredibly the game still went ahead when the rioting had ended - to avoid further trouble.

This game lead to the 5 year ban for English clubs in Europe.

Please only make sensible comments. Whatever your thoughts are about the whys and hows of this tragedy, the fact is it was still a sad day for football and many people lost their lives and many people lost family and friends.

Why is there such violence in football. It's meant to be a sport where fans go to be safe and enjoy. But off course a few ruin it for us. Why can't people just go and support their own team without causing fights. It's not hard.
