Blessings for Amitabh's Granddaughter (Sohar) from Allahabad - Indra Srivastava

Barahi (12th day of child birth) folk song to bless and welcome newborn in the family.
This is a ritual (Sanskar) performed in the northern part of India on the 11th or 12th day of child birth. On that day mother and newborn child are given bath to purify them. Then mother wears a yellow cotton saree( piyari) which is usually a gift from her maternal uncle/parents. Then according to the tradition of the family a puja is performed (Devi poojan, satyanarayan katha and havan etc.). After that all the members of the family, friends and neighbours give blessings to the mother and the newborn child. Ladies sing (devi geet, sohar, folk songs) and dance to facilitate the occasion.
