  • @kzkevin888 the crank pulley bolt is a bit of a bitch you can get the special tool at most auto parts store for $30 then you need two thick 12" extensions two breaker bars and a 4-6 ft long pipe thats what it took to get mine off it was in there good when you put it back in apply never seez to the threads so you can get it out easy next time. to adjust the tensioner install the belt and push up the tensioner till the belt feels tight and torque to 40 ft lbs play in the belt > = .25 inch

  • Did you put an automatic tensioner in there?

  • How do you put tension on teh timing belt I mean like after you put the tensioners on adn stuff how do you adjust the tensioner and also how do you remove crank pulley bolt

    thanks

  • @DieselsAndDiodes

ey how do you put on the timing belt tensioner ?? do you need special tool for that ??

  • I took a TON of video footage of the entire job of replacing my H22A1 timing belts and water pump. I cover everything including how to make your own 'Special Honda Autotensioner Installation tool' out of hardware store metal corner/shelf bracket. worked good.

I have 5 video parts of the job up right now and there will be somewhere around 20 total video parts. lots of detail. thanks for your video! it's one of the best images of the front of an H22A!

  • looks pretty good to me. I would like to do the swap to the manual tensioner one day.

So another way to check tension is to see how far you can 'easily' twist the belt in the middle of the long stretch from the front cam pulley down to the crank pulley. should only easily twist 1/8 turn. it should not twist as far as a 1/4 turn with just easy twisting from your fingers.
