Come wander through the old abandoned Geyser Missile Site near Green River, Utah, home of the testing of Pershing and Athena missiles during the Cold War of the 1960s and into the early 70s. This site is near the Crystal Geyser. Music by the Byrds.

  • nicely done -- I was working on preliminary plans for a documentary on this site. Many "missile trash" still live in Green River, but they are getting pretty old now. RIP Gene Dunham

Now, this site is the inspirational source for my sci fi thriller, ROCKET RANCH, about a single scientist that is able to resurrect the site and launch a missile, complete with warhead, holding the USA hostage WOW!

  • Sounds like an interesting book. I've spent many hours at the Geyser Site and its adjuncts. It's been pretty much picked over at this point. Last year, someone even tried to burn some of the old poles. And yes, many of the old timers are gone now. Thanks for your comments.

  • I have been to that area every year for the last 12 years, I was on a launch crew there in oct of 73, . It's amazing but the first time I saw the abandoned athena missile site I thought the same thing, what a great place to film a si/fi movie.

  • My dad took part in launching Pershing missiles from here in the 70s. Thank you for sharing. He'll probably be sad to see what happened to it... Thanks for sharing.

  • Cool video! I have been to this area and it's an intriguing place. It's neat to see pictures of what the missile site looked like when it was in operation. Great song too!
