I am flexible. I made a video called "Suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge." Seen here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXuV8MsZroI

A considerable number of people had a comment to make on this video. One actually convinced me to change my position on the issue slightly.

A user by the name of warmcozy ultimately made the argument "people before things." That struck a note of truth with me and made me realize I had lost sight of the bigger picture.

This is simply an illustration that I am not inflexible. I am open minded and willing to change my position. I don't post here because I think I have all the answers. I don't post thinking that I know everything about the topic I am discussing. I post here to learn more... to start the discussion.

I enjoy pleasant discourse, especially for differing points of view. You can save the insults, however, those are a waste of your time and mine. Anyway, the people who write the baseless insults generally don't read the description box because they are not actually seeking better understanding. I think the main reason for baseless insults is a self esteem issue. People who have low self esteem go around trying to knock other people down to bring them to their own level. It is sad really.

Anyway, I would like to point out that although I am now agreeing to a barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge with the condition that it doesn't obscure the view, I am now saying that it will specifically save lives.

I still believe that people who want to kill themselves will do so, they just might have to find a different method.

After the comments on the Golden Gate Bridge Suicide video I do, however, think that it might be worth the barrier if nothing else, to remove the tarnish from the reputation of this beautiful bridge located in an amazing place in the world.

Anyway, you can watch the video if you really want all the details. Don't let this ruin the Golden Gate Bridge for you, it really is a beautiful place with an amazing view.

Thanks for reading. Read all you want, I'll write more.

  • I commented on the first video before watching this and I regret it now..Thank you for reconsidering, being open minded and making these videos..You rock :-) I'm glad it doesn't obscure the view and can possibly help save lives (with a "Intervention" after you try to jump)

  • Thanks for giving me a second chance on this topic. We learn the most when we are wrong. I certainly did. That's why I make videos... to learn more about myself, other people and the world around me.

  • I completely agree with you. I watched "The Bridge"(disturbing, yet strangly enlightening), and I think that the net would be a good idea because the Golden Gate Bridge should be known for it's history and great very of the city/bay, and not for the landmark where the most suicides take place each year.

  • The Bridge Commission approved the "net style" barrier about 2 weeks after I posted this video.

  • Dude, you were right the first time. Don't be wishywashy. FACT: Lots of Dangerous Things exist with which one or more disturbed persons could use to off themselves if they really want. The Bridge has a rep for it because it's famous and near a major city. Far more use 'script meds, car exhaust, guns, BART or subways, heroin-- need I go on? Does the City owe suicidals forced prevention we have to pay for? The signs and callboxes are plenty. Protecting from harm? YOUR job. Not society's.

  • What goods a poxy net? Once caught in it I (I mean they) will just clamber up and start the jump all over again

  • Im sure you are flexible. Im sure you could put your ankles all the way up behind your ears while your boyfriends are fucking you in the ass!

  • I am begging anyone who lives near this guy- Please! Go over to his house and beat the shit out of him. ( if you video the beating and post it here, THAT would be worth watching!) thanx

  • 40 million dollars to save idiots? People over things okay why not use that money to save Millions of starving children! Instead of saving 30-40 people a year who have to choice of living! But whatever they are just kids who have no choice but to die of hunger!

  • ua 1st vid was perfect. suicide still happening at the empire state building. people will find a way at the bridge no matter what. in prison they use bed sheets.

man, those jumps were so cool. Gene's jump was the best. i hope some1 finds a way to do cool jumps. i actually have a nice big heart that's compassionate n loving.

wat the hell happened 2 u? first vid, nice soft smooth skin, nicely sculpted face. damn u were handsome. jog on the bridge, enjoy ua last perfect view n get healthy.

  • dont you get it !!!!!! the idea of it being on the golden gate bridge to some people would be their goal ...suicide can be done anywhere, but they want the best.. i broke

my heart when i watched them jump, we

watched this video about 9 months here in the uk, and friends where talking about it for weeks after. its the families and friends that are left behind to pick up these pieces lets just do the net, and stop these jumps (pls)

  • i really did think ur last one is the right one

i do believe in ppl befor things but still they r going to kill them self either way so i think its a wast of money and view. and the fact is thats not putting things before ppl thats just being rash. i dont want them to die but they are eithere way if they want to so this barrier want help people in my view point what so ever
