From filmmaker Ben Abel-Bey, this film explores the United States current drug policy and the growing movement to reform it. Jack Cole and Peter Christ of L.E.A.P, Eric Sterling of the Criminal Justice Policy Foundation, Harvard Economist Jeffrey Miron, and Ethan Nadelmann of the Drug Policy Alliance argue for decriminalization and/or legalization. Former high ranking DEA agent John Coleman of Drug Watch International, Dr. Robert DuPont of the Institute for Behavior and Health, Robert Weiner, former spokesman for ONDCP, and Joseph Califano, Jr. of CASA Columbia defend the status quo.
One wrong assumption all anti-legalization/reform proponents make is that people need government to choose whether or not to use drugs. That's a fallacy; somebody who wants to try heroin, coke, meth today can get those drugs with relative ease. Somebody who has no interest in drugs will continue to have no interest in drugs when they do in fact become legal.
A short curiosity fueled spike in use may occur initially, but data shows us most would NOT become regular users.
