  • True... and false. Much of the furniture and paintings were recovered intact, and reinstalled into the palace.

  • Most of the furniture was sold or ruined during the revolution,actually half of the furniture there now are reproductions,and half is original which was donated back from various places.I

  • @Latinlabel They do that, time to time in different castles for their anniversary or special events like they did in vaux le vicomte not to long ago. There s also the special evening events in Versaille during summer...

  • @Squirralbait False. The palace wasn't ransaced. The furniture was sold - auctions. It took one year to sell all the furniture. All the furniture you see in the Palace is authentic. Donation from generous people who liked and like Versailles. One of them was Rockefeller.The Queen's bedroom was restored as it was when the last Queen Marie Antoinette lived there(this is actually the summer decoration essentially silk) For the winter decoration it was welvet......

  • @Latinlabel Tourists can't dress up in 18th century costumes but they have some events they called "spectacles" where you see employees dressed in wigs and costumes and they dance or walk around the gardens. They don't talk to you but they are ok with you taking photos of them or you with them. This happens usually from the months of May through October
