In the eastern woodlands an axe is the best tool you can have you know how to use it.It is more multi functional it can do what both thoose tools do plus more.It may exspend more calories to use but try to cut somthing

longer than the saw blade or split a log.

I eat a lot of rabbit, raise em, I slaughter with a short piece of pipe, Iv'e killed 300+ pound hogs with a 12 pound sledge hammer, blunt force is great and quick. Rabbits are a plenty if you know their habitat and schedule, they even freeze on sight for you. I believe they were one of mans fist prey.

And if someone were running at you and you had that in your hand, you could take out a 'Shin Bone' with ease. It would be a silent way to take down an aggressor. OH! an axe is good if you need to split bigger wood

There was an article in a recent issue of Backwoodsman magazine about rabbit sticks. If you carve the wood flat into a boomerang configuration it spins faster, has more accuracy, and has lift to keep it above the ground more.
