Sony introduced their line of products for children in 1987 and this was one of the most popular items, a portable cassette recorder. Playback quality is actually very good and although it is DC bias, the recording still sounds fairly acceptable. This one works flawlessly despite probably being at least 20 years old -- it was built back when Sony was still synonymous with high quality electronics... today, not so much!

  • I didn't know Sony made tape recorders like that, nor did I know U2 were with Worner, I thought they were with Island, unless Island were owned by Worner. I think Sony made Walkman devices for kids, but I didn't know they made tape recorders like this one, I've seen others like it though.

  • Island was owned by Warner Bros. at the time the album was released, thus the "W" logo on the cassette case. Now Island is owned by Universal Music Group, which I believe allows U2's music on YouTube, but puts ads on your video if you play one of their songs.

  • My first Sony in the '80s was a TCS-310. It's like a Walkman with a built in stereo microphone. But it got too worn out beyond repair, which is why I don't have that anymore. :-/

In case you want to check it out...
