You have to get up really, really early to catch a salmon ;) Here's our "fishing story" caught on video in October 2010. My mom catches a beautiful Chinook in the Yaquina river near Canyon Quarry. It's a real river monster with gnarly fangs and a rich green color. He had been up river awhile, but hadn't spawned yet. Salmon usually spend two years in the ocean before returning to the river where they were born. He was about 35 lbs and 40 inches! Massive! I caught one too, a bright 25 pounder that put up a strong fight. Beautiful fish! We've been very lucky this season. Thank you fish and thank you river.
