More than 250 people gathered at Providence in Spokane to recognize the works of Martin Luther King, Jr., and hear Rev. Percy "Happy" Watkins deliver the famous "I Have a Dream" speech, first heard in 1963. Anyone who's heard Happy will attest: you can still feel the inspiration today, 49 years after King delivered the speech in Washington D.C.
The ceremony began with special music by Happy's son, Paul. And Happy invited children and youth to come up front and share with him their dreams for the future.
A standing ovation was guaranteed as Happy finished presenting King's dream that one day, all children would stand hand in hand across the nation, able to say, "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we're free at last."
Recorded at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital January 16, 2012.
