Apart from the brilliant acting of all three Mohan, Karthik and Revathi( I like Revathi a lot)....the brilliant script and direction by Maniratnam....and amazing music by Ilayaraja...the other thing to notice is the old Madras you get to see in this movie of the late 80's early 90's....especially the ambiance of that time in Madras. It was a time I was 4 years old and growing up and loving every moment of it. I think a lot of ppl feel that way

i loved this movie not just for its songs, acting and screenplay but also for its simplicity. nowadays most of the budget is spent on actors' clothes and expensive sets for song and dance sequences.

me too.I liked both Karthik and Mohan's character.both unique in its on way.I think Karthik's character is a great mirror of his rship with Revathi.He was vibrant,energetic and they fell in love so fast.And the love ended as fast as it started.However,just like the calm and composed Mohan,Mohan-Revathi romance slowly simmered and boiled into true and everlasting love.Revathi too had changed.Beginning she was the mirror of Karthik,later she slowly became the mirror of Mohan

I love this screenplay, Picturisation, plot, BGM etc.

Though very very Good, All of Maniratnam's Romantic Heroes seem to have a typical character + Romantic ideas + Gimmicks which is kind of stereotypic.

@vikrammuralidaran ditto brother. The piano when karthik is walking back is excellent. There can be endless arguments of IR vs. ARR but the melody from illayaraja is just blissful and uncomparable. Na bhooto na bhavishyati! Even if lives 100 more years we wont get this kind of music again as times have changed so much and so have movies and production values. Even Illayaraja cannot recreate this magic!
