This video was made in February 2007.

Andy, I completely agree. Its just so demoralizing to see the stifling of political willpower in favour of party politics.

Abouts 4-6months ago I put myself on 10 Downing St Web. I said that if MP wanted the people's respect, he should demand from cabinet, MPs AND quangoed companies, honesty from all! Came back 'not accepted' why? 10 Downing St said I was joking and therefore not taken seriously by my comments!!!! Says it all doesn't it?

Why do leaders/politicians talk of USA as though a good role model for the Brits to take on tackling yob culture, knife culture, business, etc etc? European countries are our neighbours yet rarely do we hear what these countries are doing about the same issues? Why is this?

Why is Speaker Martin not answering to a 'boss' of some kind? He is only responsibile to himself and all MPs are terrified to speak up for his misdeamenours?

andymooseman: I think you are wrong that people are not interested in voting! Why? Most of do not like nor trust the leaders nor their 'cabinet' members and most people I meet do not trust MPs in general - no matter what party! When/If a man/woman decides to actually stand up at Question Time and start asking why Parliament is in such distaste from the public, THEN we will at least have an 'honour member' as they so like to call themselves!

Ooops! sorry meant 'honourable member or honourable gentleman'! Its all nonsense really! I would like my representative MP to stand up in the House of Commons and ask the 3 main leaders why questions about 'expenses' has not been raised? To ask what each leader is going to do about fraud within Parliament?
elpin2 4 years ago
My guess is that your MP, like mine, is a member of one of the 3 main political parties & therefore very much tied to what that party wants. Only if an MP was truly Independent could they really get up & say exactly what they wanted, without risking the wrath of their party.
Unfortunately that's not likely to happen because any prospective Independent MP probably wouldn't have the money to run a successful campaign for election.
That's the problem IMHO.

i feel like we are in a black hole
gordon brown is a weak leader
and david is simply not close enought to the british public
unfortunately not a vote or democracy can change that

I know what you mean. It does feel at the moment as though there is really very little to vote for. No wonder people feel apathetic towards politics :)

andy after watching your video, some of the things you mention are possibly true,my way of thinking is that this goverment are taking the working class back to the days of the slave trade,we can not compete in the global market of today, as there to many poor countries who are forced to produce our products cheaper than we can, in turn britain is going same way, we are been forced into long hours for little pay , at the same time shown dreams ,

I think it's called Globalisation. Although the Government have influence, the main problem is Companies outsourcing their services because it's cheaper for them & therefore lowers their costs. That may not seem fair, but that's the way the whole World seems to be going :)
