Me playing a 2007 Squier Affinity Tele (yes, the cheapest tele they make) that has been modded with a string-through body bridge and EMG T-set pickups.

This is all going through the EF86 side of my Ceriatone Matchless DC-30 clone, one of the greatest amps of all time.

I've been playing for 3 years, and I know I'm a sloppy player and I have a lot to improve on, but I posted this so you could hear what the amp sounded like, not so everyone could tell me how much better everyone is than me: I know they are.

Okay, back to the clip, enjoy.

  • watching this again, i realised what great tone that amp has

  • @motokev Yeah, this is in the top 3 amps I've ever played in my life. Probably #1.

  • How does it compare to Hayseed 30, VoxAC30H2, Top Hat, Divided by 13, Two Rock?

  • @vgw1971 I wish I had played all those amps. It looks like you're trying to find the "best" amp, but all those have pretty different sounds, and one isn't best. I've only compared it to a top hat club royale, /13 CJ11, and AC15TV (same amp as ac30H2). This amp is louder than all of the others. It sounds a bit more modern than the Vox . The /13 is a totally different beast, but that's because I have the CJ11, which is based off a different circuit. This sounds just like a matchless to me.

  • @byusnowboarder The club royale was too bassy and muddy for me, and it didn't take pedals well (to me). This amp (DC30) took pedals the best. It was too loud for my use, otherwise I would have kept it. It's one of the top 5 amps I've ever played. I love the DC30. I had a Creme Brulee built later on, which is a half-power version of this amp and I love it. I'll probably own another one soon. The ac15 is more vintagy sounding. Right now I have a /13 CJ11 and ac15TH1VL that I play in stereo

It sounds like you're trying to find the "best" amp. All those amps are amazing amps and you can't go wrong with them. But I'd hate to put a blanket statement out there that one is better than the other. You're going to have to play them all to see what's right for you. I haven't played all those amps, and most are makes, not models. My two amps for the past 6 months have been an ac15h1tvl and a /13 CJ11. They're totally different beasts. The hw vox will sound more vintage.
