After pressure from Bill OReilly, the folks at Jetblue have decided to shamefacedly back away from their modicum of sponsorship for YearlyKos, a netroots conference. Apparently they think the progressive movement is to be sold down the river whenever Fox News is displeased.

Well fuck you, Jetblue. Those little screens in the seats are too small anyway.

eddiwardo: That's a fair question, I think the point is that Bill O and Fox News are what they are--conservative, partisan institutions. Jet Blue has the right to sponsor them as well as progressive institutions like DKos.

But by backing down to Billo and Co, they have chosen to sell out progressives so as not to be inconvenienced or embarrassed in the public square. Not cool--and kind of how the country got into this shithouse mess in the first place. (next)

If you identify with the progressive movement--maybe you do, maybe you don't, I do--I think it is our responsibility not to be rolled on like that. It is time to hold corporations accountable for this crap. Do they really think DKos is a hate group? Until those in power are told that progressives are not the ones to sell down the river at the first sign of controversy, we are complicit in the situation when they do.

I agree with your statement, however it's funny how quickly Bill O'Reilly turned around on JetBlue, considering how much the company pushes Fox products and shows (over three Fox related channels, and three Fox pay-per-view movie channels). It's almost as Fox allowed Bill to see how far the envelope could be pushed. In a business standpoint, I would think they shot themselves in the foot regarding the relations between the two.
