Here's the fourth and final part of a complete edition of the TV 2 News at 6pm on WBBM Channel 2 with anchor Bob Wallace. Also featuring Bruce Roberts. Includes:

Bob introduces Bruce Roberts' sports report, starting off with a little small talk over the upcoming Super Bowl VIII. Bruce then reads the upcoming sports items:

- O.J. Simpson signs new 5-year, $1 million contract with Buffalo Bills

- Highlights of North-South Senior Bowl college football game, by courtesy of NBC Sports (North won, 16-13)

- Highlights of Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins hockey game, again courtesy NBC Sports (Montreal beat Boston, 7-3)

- College basketball scores, including Purdue beating Illinois 91-69; Bruce then advises of late scores: Indiana beating Wisconsin 52-51 and Northwestern beating Iowa 87-67

- Illinois High School Association's suspension of Rock Island High School basketball team rescinded; changed to additional one year's probation

- Tennis: U.S. wins doubles match with Colombia, but still trails in Davis Cup competition 2-1

- Golf: Johnny Miller and Miller Barber tied for late 3rd round lead in Phoenix Open

With that, Bruce closes his report by teasing more news on the Super Bowl on the 10pm edition

The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the
preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s
and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels;
footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved
digitally.  Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we
preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs
with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical
purposes.  For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or
lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 3,700+ (and
counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please

  • This is awesome ! Thanks "Fuzzy" ! Can you believe over 2 1/2 minutes of highlights from the Senior Bowl !?! Nowadays local news will probably show 3 plays at most, if they mention it at all. Everything is over in the wink of an eye, but this was great to watch and enjoy !

  • wow...unreal....time capsule!!!!

  • The Evans fur store ad at the end of the file is voiced by Lee Rothman who was famous for The Bowling Game in Milwaukee which ran on WVTV in the 1970's and 80's and on WDJT in the early 90's.

  • Please note Bruce Roberts' outstanding professionalism. During the late-1960s and early-1970s, he handled the postgame show for the network's NFL telecasts. One of my earliest memories as a child was watching him work in front of a HUGE board with all the scores. When talking golf while anchoring the sports, he was most noted for punctuating extremely long successful putts by saying that "the ball had EYES."

  • Some well-known names in that Senior Bowl clip, Danny White starred with Dallas, John Cappaletti, the only Heisman winner under Paterno, and Lynn Swann collected quite a few Super Bowl rings with the Steelers, something the Vikings Still have not won. Wonder if they proceeded with that side bet?
