this song has a minor part, and sometimes, some musicians begin the song with that part
-
You're right, I'm sorry.

Gershwin took the opening notes of "Summertime" from this piece when he heard it in Harlem (see...William Grant Still: A Voice High-Sounding by Judith Still, pg. 173)

Its not, honestly. I have listened to Summertime alot and it definitly is st louis blues at the beginning. Its just that the first bar n a half are the same.
-
it is St. Louis Blues at the beginning and throughout. It is NOT Summertime.
-
Not only do both know how to play, but they know what to play. And it was St LouisBlues from the 1. note, but there are certain similarities in the minor part with Summertime.
-
I have never heard this played in this style, its really, really cool!
-
it is the "st. louis blues" - also at the beginning!!!
-
Blödsinn, Gansch spielt immer den St. Louis Blues!

Die Lied beginnt mit 'Summertime' von Gershwin...aber weiß jemand viellecht wer der erstaundliche Bassspieler ist?!
The song begins with 'Summertime' by Gershwin...but does anyone perhaps know who that incredible bass-player is?

Great! :)
It doesn't matter if it sounds like another chart, that's what jazz is all about. You gotta take someones ideas and make them your own it's just like the bassist does a lot he goes ahead and plays bass lines to other charts and it sounds sweet cause he makes it his own. That's how new music is created. I'm in complete awe of how great this duet is. Quite amazing!
