Hi this Holan from
http://holannakata.com

In July 2010, I decided to utilize the airport lounges as much as possible.

Usually day passes average at US$50 a day.
However, as an American Express Platinum card holder, I have complimentary
access to US Airways, Continental, American Airlines, and Delta Lounges.
Complimentary access is also available to frequent flyers of said airlines.

If you are an American Express Centurion card holder, you also have a Priority Pass for hundreds of additional lounges worldwide.

Lounges include complimentary snacks and drinks. They are great if you are thirsty and don't want to pay airport prices at the restaurants or bars nearby.

If you enjoy drinking alcoholic beverages, some of the lounges have self service bars with a great selection, while others have complementary drinks with a barkeep.

Drinks at the US Airways Bar are not complimentary and they start at US$7.

Delta is pretty standard. They have trail mix and a few things to choose from in the afternoon and night. In the morning, they have some continental type breakfast, a muffin, homemade fig newtons, and more.

I like the free Milanos at US Airways Club. =D

You also have free wifi access in the lounge thanks to T-Mobile, in the case your airport doesn't have free wifi (Like HNL). This comes in handy especially if you don't want to pay for internet (some airports charge).

The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing wherever you go. In some lounges, it seems that everyone doesn't want to be bothered but in others it seems like it is great place to socialize.

The televisions are on and there are different rooms, a quiet room, a business center, a computer room, and more.

There is also free reading material like golf, technology, airport, dining, and lots of business magazines and newspapers.

My hometown is Honolulu, Hawaii, so I start off in HNL - Honolulu
Not much to say but it is nice. It can get very hectic.
My highlight was when the receptionist walked up to me and reminded me of my flight.
"Mr. Nakata, your flight is leaving soon, right now would be a good time to head towards your gate."

I stopped over in San Diego and Phoenix, unfortunately, the lounge was closed while at Phoenix. San Diego had the simplest lounge with a great view of homes on the mountains nearby.

I traveled to Salt Lake City to visit a friend. The lounge was very cozy. Reminds me of place in a mountainous area with a fire place like a ski resort.

The LAX Delta Sky Club is VERY NICE!
Very Spacious, lots of different people. The open bar is beautiful.
The layout is great. What was interesting is I saw a first class passenger denied access. The receptionist offered her the option to purchase a day pass. She left frustrated. (I would be to, if I was a first class passenger).
I read online, that you have access to the Sky Club Lounge if you are first class passenger on a transcontinental flight and that there are some special, upscale lounges exclusive to First Class.
She must have not had a transcontinental flight.

I seen a lot of people get denied, a lot don't travel often and see the lounges as a place to rest for all patrons. It's times like that I'd offer the spots as my guests but they usually walk out really fast after they are told they have to pay US$50.

Hope you enjoy this video.

I enjoy traveling but traveling by myself is not as great as I make it to be. I do little things to make it more enjoyable.

Sorry if it is kind of shaky. I took it with my flip camera.
The clips may be short. I didn't want to be intrusive while I recorded.

  • Hey Holanz I was wondering if they allow passengers to the Sky Club with a Coach ticket even if you are a Platinum member with American Express.

  • @p3ter7i Yes, the Sky Club allows passengers with a Coach Ticket (I normally fly coach) as long as you are a American Express Platinum member.

  • What phone are you using to record in 1080p?

Good video, a little shaky, but that's understandable. Also, no one seemed to mind you recording video, but I'd be a little more careful.

  • @andrewexstrom I'm just using a Kodak Zi8 flip cam. I used the 720 option but I guess when I exported it, it made a pixelated 1080 option?
