Due to ethanol in some gasoline, the carburetor diaphragm on a Briggs & Stratton powered lawn mower can rupture or degrade. This causes the engine to run extremely rich, a loss of power, and the exhaust blows black and/or blue smoke. In my introduction video, I showed how to identify and diagnose this problem. In this video I will go through the carburetor diaphragm replacement procedure. It is easy and only takes 10 minutes.

  • No, it was not a highliter. It is a paint pen. You can get them at most hardware stores. It writes on just about anything. Junk yards use them a lot to mark used parts. They cost about $3 bucks.

  • Glad that I could help. If you want to repay me, just do something nice for someone who needs help. Makes the world just a little nicer.

  • Thank you for all the kind words. Glad I could share my knowledge and save people some money. These are well build mowers that shouldn't suffer an early death because of a $5 dollar part.

  • Fantastic, watched this, ordered the gaskets off ebay (£2.40), fitted them while talking on the phone to my Dad, then fired it up....never loved the sound of my little lawnmower so much! Thanks for bothering to put this up..my 20year old mower lives on (in a wet and soggy Leyland -Northern England)...!
