It's called personal responsibility. Alcohol is more destructive than gambling is(I'm not a gambler by the way). I WANT confidence in my president and VP. Root is not an anarchist. Wayne Root is the best thing ever to happen to the Libertarian Party... Barr/Root is the strongest ticket the LP has ever had. Barr has professionalized the LP, by bringing a basic understanding of STRATEGY to the LP. Moreover, he knows what to say to the TV cameras... America is teetering on the brink of dictatorship, and only Barr can stop it from falling into the abyss... Your comment shows you don't know much about Wayne. He started his presidential campaign before Barr entered the race. You should check out Wayne's site.

Your concern over the political ideology of the party, though legitimate, needs to be rationalized. The debate won't end with Barr and Root in 2008. I can see somebody like Jesse Ventura joining the party officially if it begins to take shape as a legitimate opposition party and getting the nomination for president in 2012. You will never succeed in politics if you don't compromise at some point. It's dealing with reality and it's for the greater benefit.

I would have liked Gravel on the ticket, but I don't think Gravel would have ran for VP even if asked. I was actually hopping for Kubby(among those running for VP) to balance out the ticket

this post will look hilarious four years from now when the exact opposite of everything you wrote happens. I'm coming from the liberal wing of the party and though I'm not much of a fan of Root, a Barr/Root ticket will do more for the LP than it has done in it's history possibly on an exponential level. Four years from now when the party has shown the numbers it takes to get credibility (beginning in 2008) and more ambitious people are drawn to the party from the success you will be thankful
