  • why was he standing up?

    good video tho (Y)

  • apparently in gusty conditions that is to enable quicker reactions and easier movement of body weight to prevent the gibe ( which it obviosly didnt

  • good point, but it would also lower the center of gravity, which isnt good. i have always been talled to sit down in the boat, and i am stage 4 with 3 modlues, aAT 13 years old

  • Bobby you are right but in the prevailing conditions they felt that was the best way, its on a small lake, a gusty wind and a fast boat. These 2 guys are actually quite good they did go to Austraila for the worlds.

Keep it going with the modules and keep thinking and questioning.

  • i hate it when that happens.. good effort without the kite in that much breeze though!

  • Small lake shifty wind and as you say no kite to keep her going, the helm and crew are on their way to Oz for the worlds.

  • they didnt capsize because of the gybe. the helm pointed to hard into the gust.

  • EASE THE MAIN!! lmao

  • if i was gna say anything about this they shld hav left the second gybe later so they didnt hav to round up so fast. gust didnt help though

  • while that may be true, while sailing in these conditions, it means he can get on trap faster, and, when standing, im not going to get into the basic science but you're naturally putting more pressure on the windward side, sort of like hiking while not hiking, and whats stage 4?

  • Gotta admire two excellent jibes in difficult conditions though.

  • No doubt that gust definitely did hurt i.e was optimally bad timing for the maneuver, but crew should have felt it on back of neck and reacted. I can remember many times when gust hit my neck and I just threw myself out flat, skipper trimmed sail based on same info, and boat stayed flat.

They were still reacting to the roll to windward which probably delayed adequate response.
