At the age of 25 and with four years of teaching experience under his belt, Andy Barnard is head of geography at St Peter's High School in Gloucester.

Jo Polle is in her first year as head of learning development at Waingel's College near Reading. She has never taught in a secondary school before but is an experienced manager from FE.

In this series we follow both teachers throughout their crucial first summer term, gaining a fascinating and genuine insight into what it's like to "start in the middle".
