Shocking counsel from Chuck Smith, Pastor of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, to a pregnant pro-life woman who received a bad report about her pregnancy.

This video focuses upon the original unedited audio from the Pastor's Perspective broadcasts of February 8 and 9, 2011, along with relevant scriptures which help to point to the Truth which God's Word truly teaches about such difficult situations.

For commentary from the video producer on the broader implications of this scandal, go to: http://palmquists.glorifyjesus.com/blog/2011/02/pastor-chuck-smith-abortion/

Part of our intention in preparing this video is to reach out to Nicki from Riverside (the pregnant caller) and others in her situation, letting them know that no matter what the diagnosis, help is available. Please contact us at 866-949-2229 if we can help.

  • What purpose is to be served by attacking this righteous man of God in the public forum? Have you called him personally to advise him as the Bible dictates? Do you think public Christian attacks on other Christians is the heart of God?

The important scripture that you forgot in this video is Matthew 7:21-23. They shall say, 'But, Lord, we saved the unborn.' But at the expense of the witness of Jesus by exhibiting infighting amongst ourselves? John 13:35

I hope you think about this.

  • @Amhlair Yes we have, repeatedly.... see Matthew 18 (the whole chapter)

  • On the February 14 Pastor's Perspective program, Chuck Smith and Don Stewart began the program by stating that they had vague unspecified "information" for Nicki from Riverside.

Then they went on to say that the call screener had told them that Nicki might die, and that they were the victims of false judgment from Christian brothers.

    No repentance. Only arrogance.

Nothing about how they could have encouraged Nicki to trust in God through this difficult situation.

  • This scandal is too important to the health of Christ's Church to allow this to descend further into abusive comments, so further comments will need to be approved before they become public. From the beginning, the purpose of this video was to allow God's Word to speak Truth into this situation. If you have comments and wish for them to appear here, please focus on God's Word (if possible, with little or no other comments).

  • For 12345beagle54321: What Pastor Chuck said about abortion on the February 9 broadcast is included in its entirety in this video. He specifically refers to "extenuating circumstances" which allow him to suggest abortion in this case.

  • If you believe that God is the giver of life, then HE should be the taker of it alone. This child will fight in the womb for life, as any "normal" baby would. We have all heard how the baby squirms away from the abortion tools. This will occur with this baby as well. Now, this is not a nice, neat situation...in any way, shape, or form. The mother wants to tidy this up as easy as she can and hide from this painful experience that she has been given. But "all things work together for good".

  • perhaps a more gentle rebuke should have been made, as a voice of reasoning i would have called for prayer and fasting and gave more opportunity for others to share the pain and regret of abortion and spoke how in love we can share in caring for those in uncertainty. forget the blame and shame and welcome the holy spirit to gather us in love and conviction to be transformed in grace

  • i am blown away, where does it say that its ok under any cirumstance that we have a right to determine who lives ,who dies. you are a horrible preacher. you can determine who lives .the bible says only god. no greater love than to lay down thier life .you chuck are a phony.........foster steele

  • I grieve over this. I have seen the Lord our God do the impossible in scripture & in my own life. God has a very good reason for ALL He allows and is not flippant when allowing the hard things which He entrusts us with to honor Him. I love Chuck Smith with all my heart, no question. Attended Calvary Chapel's for over 15 yrs. and still do. However, I persoanlly believe God would not want us to cross into His area ever. I believe God gives us room to make a great many decisions..short of this one!

  • I am a mother of 9 children. I have also had 6 miscarriages. I've known life, and I've known loss. I know this would be heart-wrenching. But if you believe God works in our lives, then we have to trust Him to know what to allow in our lives. Could a medical professional come to Christ due to this birth and loving example of the family? If our spouse has terminal cancer which will disfigure him, we don't just pull the trigger. We need to just let God be God, and we have to trust and obey.

  • Lord, please protect Nicki from ungodly counsel and give her the wisdom and fortitude to trust you in her pregnancy. Lord, please strengthen her unborn children with health, vitality and long life. May they be a testament to the world of your faithfulness.

  • Even though I do NOT agree with abortion or even condoning it in a life threatening state, it's not right how the video ends on a note of ALL Calvary Chapels being the same. That is not right. You can't put what one man says (other than Jesus) as what an entire body of believers says.
