@xPATCHESOHULAHANx the retainer on the rim itself really is the most deadly thing about them!, seen and herd of many serious accidents and even deaths because of them not being locked in properly before the tire is inflated.
I hate how they got the myth wrong I have never heard of a beheading from the tread but I have heard allot about split rims coming apart and cutting limbs and such off
When I was 16 I was walking from where I lived to the next village and big rig came past and its whell fell off, it came hossing towards me, my mate saw it {luckily} and jumped over a fence then shouted and started laughing {i didnt hear him} Iturned to see what he was pointing at and as i turned it shopt past my face missing me by an inch or so.I still didnt see it until I turned back to face the wayt I was walking and saw it in front of me running along the path and it went rthrough the fence
The result here is seriously flawed. The myth was if a piece of rubber that was run over could kill. The "rubber chucker" uses the same principals as a baseball pitching machine, which is an object passes through two spinning wheels, whereas in the real world if a piece of rubber is run over on the freeway, there is only one spinning wheel on the top side and the ground is stationary. Also, it was elevated instead of on the ground and the windshield of a car uses a much denser piece of glass.
Gimmedaloot754 is wrong he doesn't realize a wheel turns while on a truck and could fire in the opposite way the truck is traveling depending on how the tire busts and what position the tire is in when a chunk from a certain spot on the tire gives way
Did anyone notice that the balistics gel dummy faces the wrong direction relative to the car door. It makes no difference in this scenario but imagine driving like that
there are so many aspects wrong with this experiment its scary that people will watch this and believe the pile of horse manure...lol. First off, the total momentum going away from the truck is 40 mph, which is not real world. Have to take into account that the wheel is traveling in the same direction as the truck at 40 mph and pretty much so is the traffic, which will effectively cancel out this alleged total momentum with they pretty much all in the same reference frame...lol. Fun tho!
