Ensemble for Renaissance Music and Dance Cortesía aims to create the mood, grace and elegance of an evening at a Renaissance court with its programme of music and dance. Their selections offer diverse musical and dance styles from a range of countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, England and Slovenia. The dancers and musicians are dressed in immaculate period costumes. The ensemble (recorders, gamba, harpsichord, percussion, and voice) is synchronized beautifully with the dancers' movements. The richness of the dancing performance is in the details: the lightness of step, the fluidity of arm movements, the carriage of the head, and the expressiveness of the dancers' faces. The passion of the Ensemble Cortesía is to breathe life into Renaissance music and dance for contemporary audiences.

The approach of the ensemble Cortesia to the interpretation of music and dance is based upon research, study and reconstruction of original written records. With special attention and devotion they perform works of art composed by authors whose artistic activity was connected in the past with the territory of contemporary Slovenia. They wish to present the European culture of the Renaissance period to selected audiences and -- in that context -- to emphasize and treasure their own music and dance heritage.

  • wow

  • IDK y this music makes me so happy!

    AM I WEIRD ??

  • This is Secular Renaissance music because it is not with the church because it is dance music. Contrapuntal textures in some of the songs, 2 or more melodies play. The rhythms are simple and easy to recognize. Viols are involved. This is Dance music. The first few songs have a Homophonic texture There also is a harpsichord playing in the song. Some of the composers of this song are Byrd, John Bull, Sweenlick

  • GREAT JOB!! You and those like you make youtube great.

  • This is marvellous. I would love to attend a renaissance dance.

  • music for the soul

  • Joli !

J'aime bien votre interprétation du "Bransle du Chandelier"... mais pourquoi en avez-vous retiré la partie lente, au moment où les couples échangent le chandelier?

I like your interpretation of "Bransle du Chandelier"(candlestick dance) but why did you take off the slow part, where the couples are supposed to exchange the candlestick ?

  • @mxylpx

Maybe the people in those days had the same complains.. this was maybe a kind of modern rock to them..

  • With the way they were dressed they would have all been royalty or high nobles, I would like to see how the peaseants would have dressed and danced as well as there choice in music but it seems as if that is lost to history with how little you can find

  • So.. pretty :'( I wish the world could go back to this kind of stuff.. Honestly wouldn't mind the dresses ^_^
