The poor guy--as tough as he looked, he often got beat up by the men playing his compadres--those were some tough hombres and rumored to have been the real deal. Love this movie--second to "Casablanca", I think it's among the greatest film produced by Hollywood when it was considered an "industry". A very young Robert Blake appears in this film by the way.
