It shows all the signs of a low signal or codec issue but it's not (or not in my case). It's an issue with Nvidia's drivers causing the problem. Click on the following link to see how to fix it.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18280163

If you have had the same issue and the fix worked above can you please let Nvidia know by doing the following so they take note and fix it in a driver release. Thanks.

Go to the Nvidia site, Support at the top, Support Home, Scroll to the bottom, Click the 2nd of the click here links, Click Ask A Question that's along the top, Click Continue, Fill out the details, In the question box put a link to the overclockers thread and describe how you have the same issue. :)

  • I'm wondering if this only affects the 8xxx series graphics cards (I've an 8800GTX)? If so it's unlikely that Nvidia will fix the issue in their current drivers. :(

  • @hornyoldtoad If Nvidia want to send me one of those nice GTX590's for me to rule that out then I'm game. :D But joking aside the first step is if Nvidia even look into this. I'm sure a company with millions and millions of users out there have much bigger problems to deal with.

I'm sure that 2 people that have got an issue but have found a workaround isn't going to jump to high priority. But fingers crossed this might of already been reported and being looked into. :)

  • You're right! It was the Nvidia driver! I'd tried changing for older drivers previously but the problem still remained...I didn't go back far enough. I'm running the 197.45 drivers now. Thanks a million Seggons. :)

I'll fill out the support ticket on the Nvidia site too.

  • @hornyoldtoad I did the exact same thing. But thankfully someone on the overclockers forum said to go back even further. So I gave a really old driver a test and to my surprise the HD channels worked. So I tested out many different drivers until I found the point of when it all went wrong and went back to the previous driver.

There are alot of disadvantages to running old drivers hence why I'd really like Nvidia to fix this so I can update to new drivers.

  • I've got the exact same issues with my Blackgold BTG3595. Are you running a 64bit operating system? If so the issue is codec related. The problem is I haven't found any way of swapping Windows 7 Media Center 64 bit h264 codec without breaking live tv playback.

  • @hornyoldtoad I also thought it was a codec related issue but it's not. If you have the exact same problem I'm guessing you run an Nvidia card. If so go to the overclockers forum, click on General Hardware and look for a thread called "BGT3620 HD Freeview issue." in there. If that fixes your issue can you please send Nvidia a message linking to my thread on the overclockers forum saying that you have the same issue. The more people that do this, the quicker it will get fixed.
