Today's top story is Partnership for Patients. What is Partnership for Patients?
At Bon Secours our doctors, nurses and other health care providers work incredibly hard to deliver the best care possible to our patients. Unfortunately, an alarming number of patients across the U.S. are harmed by medical mistakes.
In responce, the Obama Administration has launched Partnership for Patients: Better Care, Lower Costs.
Partnership for Patients is a new public-private partnership that will help improve the quality, safety, and affordability of health care for all Americans. And Bon Secours is committed to the goals of Partnership for Patients.
Partnership for Patients brings together leaders of major hospitals, employers, physicians, nurses, and patient advocates along with state and federal governments in a shared effort to make hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly.
Partnership of Patients has two goals...
One.......Keep patients from getting injured or sicker, and;
Two.......Help patients heal without complication.
Achieving these goals will save lives and prevent injuries to millions of Americans, and has the potential to save up to $35 billion dollars across the U.S. health care system, including up to $10 billion in Medicare savings alone, over the next three years.
BSHSI is committed to the Partnership for Patients Pledge...as the providers of hospital based care to patients in need, we pledge to work to attain the goals of this initiative and commit to building on work already underway to achieve safe, high quality care.
How? By using tools and processes that improve safety for patients.
Sound familiar? It should. Clinical Transformation objectives and targets easily merge with those of Partnership for Patients.

In other news...as we continue our series on Bon Secours' values, today we will be talking about Quality.
Bon Secours feels that "Commitment to quality means we strive for excellence in the delivery of our health services. We expect to meet or exceed clearly established internal and external standards.
We will design or modify the ways we work, seeking to constantly improve what we do, so that the right things are done the right way."
Quality behaviorial norms include:
•Strive for continuous improvement in the services we provide.
•Seek ways to surpass customers' needs and expectations throughout the life of the service.
•Evaluate performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
•Approach challenges with a positive can-do attitude.
•Create an atmosphere that allows everyone to take pride in their work.
•Recognize that management is responsible for making improvements to the processes and systems that are the foundation of the delivery of high quality services.
Bon Secours is committed to quality and it it not a one time thing. Improvement is perpetual. And our way of assuring we provide good help to those in need.
Finally, from New York....Good Samaritan's Wound and Hyperbaric Institute Receives Accreditation
Good Sam, part of the Bon Secours Charity Health System in Suffern NY has been awarded accreditation by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society is the leading authority in hyperbaric medicine.
This accreditation is recognition that few hospitals and facilities have earned, and identifies the Institute as providing patients with advanced care.
But how many suba divers dive in Suffern, NY?
Well, super-oxygenation offered by hyperbaric treatments can help those with chronic non-healing wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, traumatic injury, radiation therapy and other causes.
Good Samaritan Hospital's Wound Care and Hyperbaric Institute offers two oversized, private hyperbaric chambers where patients can relax, listen to music or watch a movie during treatment.
By the way, Good Samaritan Hospital is the only hospital in the region to offer this treatment.
Were we just talking about quality?
Well, that's it for this week. Stay tuned to this portal for future up to the minute information on these and other stories on BSN Headline News. I'm Dave Schlachter. Thanks for joining us.
