Horse Trail Ride on Gold Camp Rd Colorado Springs Co. This is the old Rail Road route use to bring Gold ore from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs. We rode 8 miles to the old Stage Coach Road and back.

Thanks, I inadvertently put narrow gauge. Standard rail was used.

actually it was standered gauge. the only narrow gauge into cripple creek was the florance and cripple creek rr.

i believe the partially collapsed tunnel shown at around 2:14 into the video plus 2 others collapsed due to the siesmic activity caused by the blasting out of cheyenne mountain when NORAD was being built

Gold Camp Road was built in the 1890's for a narrow gauge railroad to connect Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek mining district, about 20 air miles to the west. The road is about 25 miles long over its entire length. The Cripple Creek area was one of the richest gold producers in history, yielding 5 or 10 billion dollars in ore, adjusted to recent prices. Eventually, the railroad was scrapped and the road bed was converted to vehicle use.

The song is Apache but I don't know who did your version. It has been re-made and re-mixed by as many and varied artists as there are notes to the song. The latest version of the song, that I'm aware of, is by a HipHop/rapster called Sir Mix-A-Lot under the name "Jump on it." Good in it's own right but not nearly as good as the version you found. Thanks for the memories from Gold Camp Road.

These are great pictures of a road I wish I had traveled when I lived in Colorado Springs, but never did. Thanks for the cool song (what is that tune?) and the very nice ride.

Thanks for the comment! Not sure what this song is, found it on an old CD of classic 60s tunes, but not titles or artist, I loved the western feel to it.
