@deric8--
You are right about that; however, what you don't know is that "Cosby Show" reruns are what these specials were what CBS put on to compete with; "Cheers" and "Family Ties" were pretty much non-existent ratings-wise until 1986-87.

For the most part, yes; however, Rod did not become the permanent announcer until January of 1987. Prior to that, CBS was still using different announcers, including Rod Roddy, Gene Wood, Bob Hilton, Charlie O'Donnell, Don Pardo, etc.

what CBS station was this from?
-
@deric8 I figured as much. As soon as The Cosby Show ended in 1992 and Cheers ended in 1993, CBS' ratings grew, I'll bet.

@TheJamesgordon43 Not really, Remember in 1986 NBC had a solid line-up with the Cosby Show, Family Ties and Cheers all that night.
-
@deric8 Did it help with CBS' ratings, too?
-
@nextbarker They should have, as well as the 35th year in 2006.
-
Rod Roddy had just started about this time.
-
They should've had more primetime special especially for the 20th year in 1991.
